$2 Million Winner in Aiken

Somebody won the $2 million grand prize in the Millionaire's Club scratch-off lottery game this week in South Carolina.

South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a news release Wednesday that the winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K at 2948 Whiskey Road in Aiken.  That's the second time this year that someone playing the Millionaire's Club scratch-off games has won the $2 million prize in Aiken.

The first winning ticket was purchased in January at the Circle K at 1014 E. Pine Log Road, within four miles of this week's winner.

Tuesday's winner said she was shocked when she discovered she had won, adding that she had only purchased one ticket.

The woman's identity doesn't have to be released.  South Carolina  and Georgia are among the 11 states that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

Check your tickets if you bought some in Evans for Wednesday's Powerball drawing.

Georgia Lottery officials say a ticket matched all five numbers, plus the Power Play to win $2 million.  The winning ticket was purchased at Publix off Washington Road in Evans.

The winning numbers were 21-29-54-59-62.

Mega Millions Jackpot Close to $800 Million for Friday's Drawing

The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday night.  Right now, the jackpot stands at an estimated $792 million, but it could grow higher before the drawing.

If someone wins Friday night, it would be the sixth largest jackpot since the game began in 2002.

The last top prize was won in California in December, but there have been 32 $1 million winners in 19 states, including Georgia and South Carolina.

Mega Millions is the only lottery game that has awarded five jackpots that exceeded $1 billion.  Winners were in South Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Maine and Michigan.

Tickets are $2, but players can add the Megaplier for an additional $1 to multiply their non-jackpot prizes.

Winning Powerball Lottery: 10 Things More Likely To Happen

We all know the odds of winning tonight's $1.2 billion Powerball lottery are very slim. It's something like 1 in 292,201,338, according to Powerball.com. So, obviously not the best odds. But, there are some odd things that you have better odds of happening to you, according to The Motley Fool! But, if you were to win, what would you do with the money?  This South Carolina man won big, and here's what he did first!

Now while The Motley Fool has 35 things on their list, we just hand-picked a few of the oddest, or craziest, from the list to share.  If you want to see all 35, click here!

Now, here are 10 Things More Likely To Happen Than Winning The Powerball Lottery:

1. Have Baby Born With Teeth

Yes, it's rare, but it's happened!  The odds are actually about 1 in 2,000 to 3,000.  Way better odds than the lottery!

2. Get A Hole In One

We know there are a lot of avid golfers here in the Augusta area, and we also know a hole in one can be elusive. But there's still a better chance with that than winning the lottery!  The odds are about 1 in 3,000 for a tour player... and 1 in 12,000 for an average golfer.

3. Become A Movie Star

Since being a movie star could bring some wealth along with it, you might consider taking a shot over playing the lottery.  The odds are estimated to be around 1 in 1.5 million.  Slim yes, but still better than 1 in 292 million!

4. More Likely To Go To The ER Due To A Golf Cart Accident

Sure, golf seems like a fairly safe sport, but there's a 1 in 22,355 chance you could get seriously injured in a golf cart accident and be sent to the emergency room.

5. More Likely To Find A Pearl In An Oyster

This depends on if you even eat oysters, but you might want to start!  You could be 1 in 12,000 to find a pearl. But they usually are more like a pebble than the pearl you think of when it comes to jewelry!

6. More Likely To Be Struck By Lightning

Getting struck by lightning has about a 1 in 1 million chance of happening.  Again, still better odds than the Powerball lottery winner!

7. Get Injured By A Toilet

The odds of being injured by a toilet? They're around 1 in 10,000! This could happen with a toilet detaching from the wall... or get injured in the process of replacing a toilet.

8. Have Your Identity Stolen

Identity theft is a growing problem.  Back in 2017, about 1 in 15 people reported being a victim! And we can only imagine with more technology... this number is probably growing!

9. Bowl A Perfect 300 Game

Yes, that would mean 12 strikes in a row to get a perfect 300 in your bowling game.  But, for an average bowler, that's a 1 in 11,500 chance.  And 1 in 460 for a professional bowler!

10. Get Into Harvard

From the 2021 class, acceptance rate from those who applied was about 5.2%.  That's about a 1 in 20 chance of getting into Harvard. But, that does mean you'd have to apply.  And we all know Harvard students are usually above-average students, but even though an average student would have lower odds of getting in-- there's still a better chance than winning the Powerball jackpot!
