StorageCafé recently released a report that details the best cities across the country for retail therapy, and the greater Atlanta, Georgia area ranked among the top ten.

They go on to point out that part of the appeal to retail therapy is the instant gratification.
Consumers have numerous options to shop these days, literally at their fingertips. StorageCafé researched what is really going on here. In addition, they examined the primary spending interests of today’s generations. Areas such as number of retail establishments and employees per 1,000 residents, and retail square footage per capita were considered. Then, that was compared to the income and spending habits within the major metros across the country. As a result, an official list of best cities to get your retail therapy on was compiled.
Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Roswell Area Ranked #2
The second-best retail therapy metro is right here in Georgia. Sitting just behind Miami, Florida, StorageCafé found that “food away from home” was the area where our shoppers spend the most. Apparel and services were then the second most popular retail bucket. 25% of retail spending in the greater Atlanta area was specific to this type of shopping. Furthermore, it is emphasized that the incredible amount of space to indulge in retail delight is part of what makes the region special.
“Metro Atlanta has almost 305M square feet of retail space calling out for all window shoppers, boutique browsers, and shopaholics to come in and shop until they drop,” StorageCafé said. In fact, that equates to 50 square feet of shopping space per resident. Finally, this report also detailed how Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Roswell, aligned to a $9,796 expenditures on retail. This was actually about $2,000 higher than the top-ranked metro of Miami.
