Recent Attempted Bank Robbery in Richmond County

It was just a little over a week ago that a man tried to rob a bank in Richmond County.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office was called to the Bank of America branch in the 2800 block of Peach Orchard Road January 23 at 3 p.m.

The suspect reportedly had his hand in his jacket when he demanded money from a teller, even threatening to shoot the employee in the face.  A security guard at the bank approached the would-be robber and walked him out of the bank before he received any money.

The suspect left the scene and got into the back seat of a waiting Honda SUV.  The vehicle took off before deputies arrived.  He was arrested the following day while attempting to shoplift at Walmart on Wrightsboro Road.
