Last week, I had a message pop up in my Facebook Messenger. It was from a former co-worker whom I hadn't spoken to in quite some time. I opened it up and she was asking if anyone had asked me about participating in Dancing Stars of Augusta for the Alzheimer's Association. And I told her I hadn't been asked. That got the ball rolling...
Learning About Dancing Stars Of Augusta
I had a chance to chat with the Director of Development on Friday. She told me a little bit more about what the competition consists of. Obviously, there's the dance portion. But the biggest part is fundraising for the Alzheimer's Association. While I don't know a lot about the Alzheimer's Association, I have known people who have been victims of this horrible, incurable disease. I have watched the loved ones of those people as they struggle to make sure the person is cared for. And I've seen how hard it can be when their loved one no longer recognizes them. It is absolutely heartbreaking. And that's why I wanted to get involved.
Added To The Lineup
So, now I'm officially added to the lineup for Dancing Stars of Augusta. I know that this isn't the first year for this event... and even though I've been in the Augusta area for almost 7 years, I really don't know what to expect from the event. As a former dancer, I am really excited about having a chance to take some classes and get on stage to dance again. I'm not saying I won't be nervous... because it's been AGES since I've danced. But I think that it will be a great experience, and a lot of fun. And of course, I am hoping we can raise a lot of money to fund research and help provide care for those who are battling Alzheimer's. Also, my co-host, Dub, is going to be emceeing the event! It's going to be a great night for a great cause!
Donate To The Alzheimer's Association
I know that finances are tough for so many people, but if you would like to donate, I would appreciate your help in reaching my goal! Maybe you have a family member or someone close to you that has battled Alzheimer's... You can donate in their honor or their memory. Let's come together to help the Alzheimer's Association's continue their mission.
Thank you in advance for your support for all that we do. It's such a blessing to be a part of a community that always steps up in a big way when it comes to supporting others in need. Any amount is appreciated! And get ready for me to hit the stage at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 4, 2024!
