A news release says deputies found the body of 51-year-old Marchelle Pilger of River Bound Court in Evans on the floor in the motel just after midnight. She was unresponsive and pronounced dead by the Deputy Coroner. The cause and manner of her death have not been released.
Investigators say 53-year-old Michael Mitchell of the same address in Evans was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Murder.
"This investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time," according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office news release.
