Thief Takes off with $80,000 Watch at Augusta Mall
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a thief who took off with a stolen watch valued at $80,000 from an Augusta Mall jewelry store.
An incident report says the man asked to try on the watch at SB Jewelers & Custom Design on Sunday. An employee says once the man had the watch on, he fled from the store.
Description of the Thief

- Wearing a tan or white mesh hat
- Wearing a brown t-shirt with a white banner on it
- Wearing blue jeans with the legs rolled up
- Wearing tan or brown shoes
The employee told investigators the suspect first entered the store wearing a jacket, then returned only wearing a t-shirt.
The store’s business manager said an employee removed the Audemars Piguet watch with diamonds out of the showcase to allow the suspect to try it on. That’s when he took off.
Mall security told the sheriff’s office they only had a video of the suspect running out of the store.
Anyone with information that could help identify him is asked to contact Sgt. Tom Johnson at (706) 821-1795 or any On-Duty Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.
