Columbia County has a new restaurant in a familiar place. Many people going to the lake have stopped here for chicken for years. Now, there is a new diner in Appling, and they still have chicken, but also many other delicious items.

Pollard's Corner

Grandaddy's Kitchen at Pollard's Corner has already become a very popular eating spot. This place has a little bit of everything. Recently a couple of coworkers and I stopped in to have lunch. They had pork chops and chicken and collard greens with cornbread and rolls. I had a great grilled cheese and a bowl of chili beans.

It's a small restaurant, but that makes it even better. Many locals were there the day we went, and the parking lot was filling up quickly. If you love southern cooking, this is your place, but they also have hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and more.

Southern Dog

I'll try the southern dog on my next trip. It's a hot dog with pulled pork, Grandaddy's BBQ sauce, and cole slaw. YUM!

The one thing I noticed was the customer service. Everyone was so nice and even stopped by our table several times to make sure everything was good and thanked us for coming in for lunch.

A Sure Sign Of A Great Restaurant

As I've always said, if you see a small diner with a gravel parking lot and that lot is full, you've found an excellent place to eat. Construction worker's trucks and a couple of fire trucks were in the parking lot. That is a sure sign the food is good! It's worth the trip on Washington Road to Pollard's Corner to try this place. You'll love the atmosphere at Grandaddy's and, of course, the food.
