Certain foods have the ability to ignite a joy and excitement. They are happy foods that you look forward to eating all day, and then smile when you get your hands on them. Enter the gyro. Here, we will detail where to get the best in Georgia.
Furthermore, Tasting Table recently canvased the country and identified the best place to get a tasty gyro all over the country.
"Some cities have huge populations of Greek immigrants that have founded incredibly popular gyro joints," Tasting Table states in explaining the heritage of this popular food group.
What are the gyro non-negotiables?
Though different states will offer different variations, there are certain components to a gyro that have to be consistent. It starts with the base. Typically it's a lamb, chicken, or beef. This has to be sliced thin. Then atop you will commonly find onions, garlic, and spices. Next, you have to have the Tzatziki sauce. This is where things can get interesting. Other possible accompaniments include feta cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce. Lastly, and perhaps the most important, is the warm pita. Either wrap up your gyro in the pita and eat it as a handheld or keep the pita on the side, but it has to be there.
Georgia's Go-To Gyro
You can find the best gyro in Georgia right in Atlanta. Nick's Food To Go will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024. They are open only on weekdays, and strictly from 11 am to 7 pm.
Of course, the traditional gyro is the centerpiece of the menu, but Nick's Food To Go also serves burgers. Though a falafel is not technically a gyro, they do get confused for each other occasionally. Therefore, you can find a falafel gyro on the menu here. Other unique gyro recipes include a fried chicken gyro and a veggie pita option.
"Founded by Greek immigrants Nick and Eleni Poulos in 1994, this tiny family-owned gyro spot has persisted through countless neighborhood changes thanks to the incredible quality (and taste) of its gyro meat," Tasting Table explains.
You can visit Nick's Food To Go at 240 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SE in Atlanta.
Georgia Destination Named A Best Tiny House Hotel
A recent report by Shermans Travel detailed the 10 best Tiny House hotels in America, and a Georgia destination made the list. "Tiny homes are one of the hottest residential design trends right now," they explain.
In addition, Realtor.com published a story last year that gave readers a glimpse of what exactly is going on with the Tiny House trend in America. But what is a Tiny House? Typically, they are 100 to 400 square feet. Many of them (though not a requirement) are situated in quieter areas. It is very common to find tiny home communities tucked within nature, in a peaceful and serene setting.
Other common attributes include creative ways to establish storage space and loft beds. They are often energy-efficient simply due to the smaller footprint requiring less utility power.
"If you’re considering the tiny-home lifestyle, take it for a test drive before you hire a builder and go all-in," Realtor explained. That is another reason why having such Tiny House hotel options is helpful. It gives those who are interested a chance to try it out.
Live A Little Chatt - Rising Fawn, Georgia
Located just 30 miles outside Chattanooga, Live A Little Chatt has three Tiny Houses on the property to stay at. "It’s evident that each was built with love and intention," Shermans Travel explains. The Old Blue Chair house accommodates up to five guests, while the Shangri-Little and Wandering Gypsy can sleep three people.
Visitors to Rising Fawn Georgia are in close proximity to Cloudland Canyon State Park. That's where you will find hiking trails and two waterfalls. However, there is also nothing wrong with staying on the hotel grounds to embrace the simple environment around you to unwind fully.
Each of the three options at this Georgia destination that was named in the list of best Tiny House hotels is uniquely different from each other. "We strive to give you the place to find your bliss and live deliberately." Live A Little Chatt says.
