Austin talks about former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter.

AUSTIN:It has been said on many occasions, no matter the success or failures of his presidency, that Jimmy Carter was by far the most exemplary former president that we’ve ever had in American history. I can’t really argue that case. And I can put Rosalynn right up there as far as those who deserve to be honored for life after the White House.
The 96 year old former first lady passed away. And obviously, this was a situation that many saw coming. 96 years old, for Pete’s sake. But also the former first lady, like her husband, had been in failing health. But their legacy should not be many memories of the last days of their life, but certainly the last 40 years of their lives since leaving the White House in 1980.
What an amazing legacy of public service. What an amazing legacy of love shown not just by the former president and the first lady herself, but their entire family. Habitat for Humanity has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the Carter legacy. Again, his entire family, President Carter’s entire family has gotten involved with that organization.
But what he and Rosalynn did to serve the community, not just, again, as former diplomats and political personalities, but as true philanthropist should never be forgotten. Her dedication to the cause of mental health will go down as one of the most successful first lady projects ever.
Congratulations to Rosalynn Carter’s family. We honor her for an incredible life of giving, a legacy of love, and a tradition of excellence that honors all Georgians, no matter their politics. God bless her. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
