Man Shot to Death in Aiken This Morning
A man was shot and killed in Aiken this morning and the search is on for the killer or killers.
Lt. Jennifer Hayes of the Aiken Department of Public Safety says officers responded to a shooting at 9:44 a.m. near the intersection of Sumter Street and Sundy Avenue.
Officers found a man’s body in the front yard of an abandoned home in the 600 block of Sundy Avenue. “Lifesaving measures were attempted by arriving officers. EMS arrived and continued lifesaving measures, but subsequently pronounced the victim deceased,” according to Lt. Hayes.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables identified the victim as 46-year-old Kenneth Jones. Ables said he died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy will be performed Thursday in Newberry.
Aiken Public Safety officials say the case is in the early stages of the investigation. There are no suspects at this time and no further information to release.
