Austin Rhodes:There was a bizarre gang fight at a local fair. Then video of it went viral over the weekend and boy, did I see some slamming comments of the Augusa Fair in connection with that video. The problem is the video was taken at the Elberton Fair had nothing to do with the Augusta Fair. There was one physical altercation involving a law enforcement officer and a very uncooperative fair patron at the Augusta Fair. And that cop handled things beautifully.
As a matter of fact, there’s a clip of that tasing incident at the Austin Rhodes Show page via The Jail Report. You could check it out. And by the way, I would like to hug that cop. They did exactly the right thing. A ridiculous out of control patron was handled appropriately. It does happen.
Unfortunately, large gatherings there are going to be a couple and not to everybody on the surface. Bottom line, that was the one isolated incident of any, you know, direct violence and or problem that I heard about at the Augusta Fair. The Elberton video, quite another story. And it was a mess. And God bless all those associated with it.
But the reason I tell the story, number one, don’t post things on the Internet claiming them to be one thing when you have no clue what you’re talking about. I’m not kidding. You saw 20 episodes of the Elberton video being posted with disparaging remarks about the Augutsa Fair. The Augusta Fair had a great run. God bless them. They closed up last night. Everything’s fine. Leave the Augusta Fair alone. It’s a fine organization or event, rather, run by a great organization. Shame on anyone who says differently.
By the way, now some look forward to the Columbia County Fair, and with the addition of the great new Animal Education Center that we’ve been talking about, man, are you going to love it! Fair season is one of my favorite times of year, and it continues to be one of the great values and one of the safest places you can be to enjoy a good time, fair season. You got to love it.
