Austin’s Daily Commentary – October 17, 2023

Austin: The much more familiar saying perhaps is a little too vulgar for morning radio, but the translation is mess around and find out. That's right. Tweak the nose of the tiger. Find out what happens. And don't be surprised when you get your hand bitten off.

Couple of ways we're seeing this right now, obviously, what's going on in the Middle East. Hamas, I don't know what they were thinking. It really boggles the mind to think that in this day and age, tweaking the nose of Israel in the way that the attacks of weekend before lasted was not going to result in the demise of literally thousands and thousands of Palestinian families and the buildings they lived in, the neighborhoods they built, they lived in and have been living in for years, that they didn't think that was going to be the result of their ridiculous, over-the-top and completely unjustifiable terror attacks.

It's just fascinating to me and a really a very, very serious lesson, very painfully learned in American politics. What's going on in the speaker of the House race right now. Jordan is about to become the speaker of the House, and there are some on the left that are absolutely screaming, I can't believe this guy likes Trump so much and he's going to be our speaker now. My gosh.

Well, guess what? Folks on the left, you decided to do something that hasn't been done in over 100 years in the House of Representatives, Democrats teaming up with a few disgruntled Republicans. Well, you're going to end up with Jim Jordan as your speaker of the House. And guess what? You found out you messed around and you found out consequences. Ladies and gentlemen, it's the new catch phrase for this month in news and politics. Live it. Learn it. Love it. Because you earned it. You messed around.
