Suspicious Death in Richmond County

Body Found in Shallow Grave on Heard Avenue

Richmond County Coroner's Office was called to the scene of two separate fatalities Friday night involving pedestrians and two people who died in a house fire that was deliberately set this morning.

The first was reported in the 2000 block of Gordon Highway where 38-year-old Annie Doyle of Murray Road in Martinez was hit by an eastbound vehicle.  She was pronounced dead just after 8 pm.

A second pedestrian accident was reported about two hours later on Deans Bridge Road at Georgetown Drive.  The male victim was hit by a vehicle and pronounced dead.  His identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Coroner Mark Bowen also says two people died in a house fire early this morning in the 3400 block of Evening Road.  Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene at 6:24 this morning. An autopsy has been scheduled for positive identification and cause of death on both victims.  For now, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office has said arson was the cause of the fire.
