Driver of Ford Explorer Sought For Questioning in Fatal Hit-and-Run

A local woman was struck and killed while riding her bicycle in south Augusta last weekend.  The driver that struck and killed 38-year-old Joni Gill October 7 fled from the scene and is still being sought.

The incident was reported at 7:35 pm on Lumpkin Road at Fleming Drive.  A police report says the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle failed to yield and struck Gill.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Division is now looking for the driver of a 2002 green Ford Explorer for questioning in connection with last Saturday's hit-and-run.
