Columbia County is continuing to grow in every aspect, whether that is shops, restaurants, and even tattoo parlors. A recent unanimous vote has been put into place by the Columbia County Commissioners on limitations of where new tattoo parlors can be located.
Future tattoo parlors must be at least a mile apart.
In June, the Columbia County Board of Commissioners were asked about establishing a studio, and from there they established a 120-day moratorium on establishing new tattoo parlors.
This request for a new business development sparked a discussion among commissioners about where tattoo studios could precisely located. That's when the one-mile requirement came about, which was approved this week.
The current tattoo shops say this rule does not phase them. They think it's a step in the right direction. With so much space in the county, everybody can have their own area and customers, without possibly competing for each other's business.
Parlors that have already been less than a mile from each other, before the ordinance, says their business has both been doing well even within such proximity.
