One Person Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck Involving Semi in Burke County

There was a fatal accident early this morning in Burke County.  The Sheriff's Office got the call at 6:40 a.m. that two vehicles had been involved in a wreck on U.S. 25 at Hadden Pond Road, close to Waynesboro.

Authorities say a Cadillac crashed into the side of an 18-wheeler while it was stopped across both northbound lanes of U.S. 25.

The driver of the Cadillac was pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Northbound Highway 25 near the accident scene was shut down for hours and drivers were asked to take an alternate route while the Georgia State Patrol was on the scene investigating the accident.
