Austin talks about fairs in Augusta.

Austin: Unless you have just moved into the area, you have to know that October is fair month and we've got two massive fairs that are widely regarded as two of the best in the southeastern United States.
Beginning October 13th, you've got the Georgia Carolina Fair, also known as the Exchange Club Fair of Augusta. That will be in beautiful downtown Augusta Hale Street, of course. The 100th anniversary of the very first Augusta Fair back in 1923. It's not the 100th edition because couple of years they took off for COVID. And I think maybe the wars infringed on a few of them. Bottom line, though, things kicked off back in 1923. So, this is the 100th anniversary.
Right after that fair, we've got the Columbia County Merchants Association Fair and the Fair Grounds in Columbia County. And that's also turned into quite an event in recent years. There is a new addition to the Columbia County Fairgrounds that is slowly but surely starting to come up in discussions around. There are more than just a handful of folks that know what's going on out there.
But it's a big secret. It's being released the big news during the fair and it is going to represent, I believe, one of the coolest attractions that has ever come to this area. And it's going to be a year round attraction for schoolchildren and others that you are going to have to see to believe.
I'm not going to spoil it here other than to tell you I have toured, well, I'm familiar with the contents of this particular exhibit, and it is going to be one of the most amazing and regularly celebrated venues that we've had in the area. It's right up there with the Augusta Museum. Some say it's even better than the Augusta Museum because, well, you'll just have to see.
But it will shock you how amazing this place is going to be. Many thanks to the Columbia County Merchants Association and all that have made that possible. Stay tuned. You'll be hearing more about it. But I don't know of a bigger year we've had for both fairs celebrating incredible milestones that you're going to have to just be a part of. Get ready. Here we come. And you better believe I'll be at both of them. And that's the comment I'm Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM, News Talk WGAC.
