Three Traffic Deaths

CSRA Wrecks Claim Three Lives

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person has died as a result of injuries sustained in a two vehicle wreck September 13 on Wagener Road.

A sport utility vehicle and pickup truck collided near Hatchaway Bridge Road.  Authorities say both drivers were injured and were taken to area hospitals.  The SUV driver died Saturday, September 23.  Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says he was identified as 87-year-old Michael Moran of Trenton, South Carolina.  Ables said Moran pulled into the path of the truck as he was attempted to make a left turn onto Wagener Road.

On Friday night, September 22, Richmond County deputies were called to a two-vehicle crash in the 5200 block of Mike Padgett Highway.  Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.  He said the vehicle traveling northbound swerved into the southbound lane, striking the southbound vehicle driven by 30-year-old Richard Faber of Burke County. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The northbound vehicle caught fire.  That driver has still not been positively identified.

Autopsies will be performed on both drivers.
