Attending concerts and witnessing your favorite artist or band perform their music live is a special experience. How easy it is to actually get into the show comes down to ticket availability. And that really depends on where you live. To provide further insight into this matter, a ranking by Just Gamblers and reported by Best Life, a lifestyle magazine, revealed the best and worst states for getting concert tickets.

Each state was evaluated on a scale of zero to 40 to determine the ease of securing concert tickets. This assessment considered various factors, including the number of venues visited during twenty of this year's biggest tours, the average venue capacity, how frequently artists perform in each state, and the local demand for tickets. The rankings also considered the touring activities of artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Coldplay, and Blink-182, examining the total number of venues they visited and the specific tour stops they made in each state.

Georgia is one of the best states for getting concert tickets.

Georgia secured the 10th spot on their list of top 10 states for getting concert tickets. The study mentioned Mercedes Benz Stadium in Downtown Atlanta, which can accommodate over 50,000 attendees. When artists opt for this venue, they frequently schedule multiple nights of performances, giving more fans a shot at getting tickets.

None of the states achieved a higher score than 23 out of 40, indicating that no location can ensure access to the most highly sought-after concerts. But this info can be handy for fans, helping them decide whether to try their luck for local tickets or maybe consider hopping over to a nearby state for the show, according to the study.

Top 3

California takes the number one spot, with Illinois in second place and Minnesota coming in third. For attending tours, Minnesota benefitted because its venues have an average capacity of 39,412, which can accommodate a larger share of the local population as Minnesota is not as densely populated. Illinois is noteworthy for being a stop on every tour the study analyzed. California's top ranking for ticket availability is mainly due to how often artists perform there and the abundance of venues they play at.

3 Worst

On the other hand, the study identifies Rhode Island as worst state for ticket availability, followed by New Hampshire at number two, and Delaware at number three. Regarding Rhode Island, the study suggests that concert enthusiasts may have a better chance of securing tickets by heading to a neighboring state like New York. The study notes that despite Taylor Swift hosting her annual Fourth of July event at her Rhode Island beach house this year, she didn’t include the state as a stop on The Eras Tour. This made it more challenging for local fans. In New Hampshire, the study points out that concertgoers often find it challenging to catch their favorite artists, making out-of-state travel a better option for seeing more shows.
