The Augusta Revolving Mural Project has Rotated and the New Mural has Just Arrived
Murals are a great way to make any city more vibrant and alive. Luckly in Downtown Augusta, there are many murals that have been added throughout the streets by multiple local artists.
Murals tend to stick around in its selected spot for years, until they eventually fade away. But not on a certain wall in Downtown Augusta.
Have you heard of the Augusta Revolving Mural Project? Every 100 days the space “rotates” to give a new artist a chance to have their work displayed.
This idea came about from another local artist Addison Nidday. Addison Nidday is no stranger when it comes to having murals showcased around the CSRA. Most recently Nidday repainted the Famous Augusta Cup, which grasped a lot of attention.
Nidday decides the next artist to to paint over his original mural outside of the downtown store. The selection is for artists who have never painted a mural or have painted 15 murals. They can showcase their work and get first-hand experience with what it’s like doing one.
The very first artist was Emily Bender.
Well, just recently on August 28, another outdoor mural is now the face of the Augusta Revolving Mural Project in Downtown Augusta.
The artist who was chosen to go over the previous mural is Jon Paschal.
Paschal’s mural has various colors and one-eyed monster figures. Here is the completed mural.
