Moped Accident Claims Life of an Aiken County Man
An early-morning accident involving a moped has claimed one life in Aiken County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the accident today at 3:25 a.m. in the 3300 block of Seneca Avenue near Shore Drive, just north of Aiken.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says 49-year-old Baxter Vinson Jr. lost control of the moped. He then crossed the westbound lane, left the roadway, and crashed into a utility pole. Ables said Vinson died at the scene from blunt force injuries.
The Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Toxicology analysis is pending.
