CSRA College Night Coming to James Brown Arena Mid-September
CSRA high school students need to mark their calendars for Thursday, September 14. The annual CSRA College Night event will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. It will take place at the James Brown Arena at 601 7th Street.
It’s a chance for students and their parents to meet with recruiters from more than 100 colleges and universities to learn more about educational opportunities, admission requirements, and tuition.
The event will offer seminars to learn more about the HOPE and LIFE scholarships. As well as how to get financial aid in Georgia and South Carolina. Members from local professional societies will also be on hand. They will provide information in areas including engineering, management, chemical, and nuclear science.
One of the highlights of the event is the chance for students to win scholarships totaling $15,000. To be eligible to register, students must attend CSRA College Night and register in person. Students must be high school seniors and graduate with a grade point average equal or above 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
“Well over $300,000 in scholarship funding has been offered to the tens of thousands of students who have attended College Night in the past,” said Cindy Hewitt, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Education Outreach. She is one of the sponsors of the event.
Now in its third decade of service to area high school students, CSRA College Night is free. The event is also open to the public.
