Austin:[00:00:01] Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jared Williams released a video late last week expressing his shock and dismay at the number of young people that are involved in violent crime in the CSRA. He was specifically referring to the young man who is charged with shooting at Josey High School last week, a shooting that left one student with minor injuries and everyone else just pretty upset.
Terrible situation, but my goodness gracious. The Augusta judicial circuit is certainly seen much worse through the years. I can tell you this, Jared’s seeming frustration and lack of knowledge of how to deal with these young people is not a surprise to me, nor is it a surprise that no one on his staff seems to be very experienced in dealing with the evil that these young people are capable of.
You see, he let go the area’s top gang investigator, their top gang prosecutor, not just at the Augusta office, but in the entire region. Her name was McKenzie Gray. She’s an incredibly talented gang prosecutor, so talented that the attorney general of the state of Georgia created a position for her right here in Augusta so she can continue prosecuting gang activity because she’s such an expert at it.
Again, our district attorney let her go his very first day on the job because he was interested in an office that looked more like the area he led, a young white female prosecutor go because he wanted to hire, get this, a minority prosecutor, someone who, by the way, had no clue as to the depth of problems with gang activity in the area that McKenzie Gray certainly understood.
Is there a is there a question, ladies and gentlemen, at this point why there’s so much of an issue with Jared Williams in Augusta? Certainly, there shouldn’t be. He’s inexperienced. That inexperienced is deadly for the citizens of the CSRA. He shocked. Of course, he shot. Should we be surprised? No, and we’re not. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes.
