Two Accidents Claim Two Lives in Aiken County Saturday
Separate accidents in Aiken County claimed two lives on Saturday. The first wreck was reported at 1:45 a.m. on Chalk Bed Road.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says 36-year-old Stephen A. Hicks of Augusta lost control of his truck, the vehicle overturned and he died at the scene from blunt force trauma. Ables says Hicks was not wearing a seat belt.
Later on Saturday, a Newberry man was killed in a single vehicle accident on Ascauga Lake Road near Sleepy Hollow Lane in Graniteville. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver, whose identity has not been released yet, veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The driver died at the scene.
