AUSTIN:
Speaker 1: [00:00:00] School’s back in session, of course, across the CSRA, and that means lots of learning going on. High school football get started tonight with some scrimmages and, oh yeah, fights in the hallway. That’s always something fun to get back to. Boy. [00:00:13][13.3]
[00:00:14] Skirmishes at both Burke County High School and Aiken High School have created some headlines. Matter of fact, a number of videos have been generated with those fights. One of them fell into our hands last night. I posted it at the Austin Road Show page on Facebook. [00:00:28][14.6]
[00:00:29] Why do we share these things? Parents and taxpayers need to know what goes on in the schools. And it’s one thing to remember a fist fight from our day. Back in the eighties, seventies, nineties, whenever you happened to be in high school. The way that a fist fight would take place. [00:00:47][17.8]
[00:00:47] These days, it’s not just two guys or two people squaring off. It’s about two dozen on either side. It’s a mess. It is a mess. And it’s incredibly dangerous too in close quarters. In this particular video that we had from Aiken High School yesterday, law enforcement was there on top of it almost immediately. And that didn’t slow it down a bit. [00:01:09][21.4]
[00:01:09] As a matter of fact, several of the officers got seriously involved in a physical way. And it’s heartbreaking to look at. I don’t know what’s going on with our young people, but you need to know that it is going on. And that’s why the video was there. Unreal. [00:01:24][14.6]
[00:01:24] God bless the educators that are trying to do the right thing and the students that are actually there to learn and not create problems. God bless them all. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC. [00:01:24][0.0]
