South Carolina Man Submits Winning Cheesecake Flavor
Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery in Brooklyn, New York, has been around since the 1950s. They are known for great food, great fun, great service, and perhaps most known for the World’s Most Famous Cheesecake. Recently, they hosted a national flavor contest leading up to National Cheesecake Day, on Sunday, July 30. And it was a South Carolina man who submitted the winning cheesecake flavor.
South Carolinian Submits Winning Cheesecake Flavor
Thomas Zahorec, from Greenville, South Carolina, was one of more than 5,000 who submitted entries for the contest. His flavor, which consists of peanut butter, chocolate, and banana, was the winner and his concoction is now the 25th flavor for Junior’s.
Zahorec was inspired by Elvis Presley for the new flavor. Of course, Elvis’s favorite sandwich consisted of peanut butter and banana.
For having the winning flavor, Zahorec won a $2,500 cash price, and will also get a cheesecake a month for a year. And yes, the new flavor will be among those! The new flavor will be available for Junior’s lovers around the country as well, but only for a limited time in their restaurants and by mail order. It will be available in various sizes through Labor Day.
Limited Edition – The King
According to Junior’s website:
“Elvis Presley is the original rock ‘n’ roll legend, and Junior’s is the original cheesecake legend. So, it is more than appropriate that peanut butter chocolate and banana inspired by Elvis’ favorite sandwich is now the newest limited edition Junior’s cheesecake flavor…”
