Today is the Last Day for Gift Cards at Christmas Tree Shops
If you have a Christmas Tree Shops gift card, time is running out to use it. In fact, officials with the Massachusetts-based retailer announced today is the last day customers can use them.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May and started going-out-of-business sales at all 73 stores across the country, including one in the Augusta Exchange Shopping Center on Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway. For now, markdowns are listed at 10% to 60% off storewide.
A document filed with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware states the chain “will cease selling and honoring gift cards on July 21, 2023.”
Christmas Tree Shops was purchased by Bed, Bath & Beyond in 2023 for $200 million and sold the chain to Handil Holdings in 2020. Industry officials expect All Christmas Tree Shops to be closed by the end of August.
Meanwhile, just days remain for Bed, Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY Stores to be open. The company filed for bankruptcy in April and announced that all brick-and-mortar stores for both retailers would close June 30. That date was extended and now officials say stores will officially close July 30.
A company statement reads, “We encourage customers to shop with us while inventory remains and appreciate their longstanding support and trust in us through their most important moments for more than 50 years. Signs at the Bed, Bath & Beyond store in the Augusta Exchange Shopping Center on Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway say markdowns on the remaining merchandise range from 60% to 90% off.
Customers wondering if they can still shop online can find a recent message on Bed, Bath & Beyond’s website that says, “bedbathandbeyond.com will return soon! Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY stores remain open to serve you.”
