There was one lucky winner in Wednesday's $1 billion Powerball drawing.  The winning ticket was reported in California.  The lump sum payment will be an estimated $516.8 million before taxes.

It was also a nice payday for nine people in Georgia who will each take home $50,000, so make sure you check your tickets!

The Powerball numbers were 7, 10, 11, 13 and 24, with a red Powerball number of 24.  The "Power Play" multiplier was 2x.   The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot were one in 292.2 million, yet one person managed to do it.

Wednesday's jackpot was Powerball's third-largest prize in the game's history.  The record jackpot was $2.04 billion, which was also won in California last year.  There had been 38 consecutive Powerball drawings since April 19 without a winner

With Wednesday's night's huge win, the jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday rolls back to $20 million.  The cash-out option would be just over $10 million.

Meanwhile, no one matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot drawing, so that figure rises to an estimated $720 million for Friday night's drawing.  The lump sum payment, before taxes, would be $369.6 million.
