Stuff the Bus Supplies Still Needed Before School Begins
Aiken and Edgefield County students begin a new school year one week from today on July 25. It was a shorter-than-normal summer break now that the school systems are switching to a year-round school schedule.
Area students who need school supplies will be able to get help from the United Way, thanks to the organization’s annual Stuff the Bus campaign. School supply collections began July 1 and will be accepted until the end of the month. Basic supplies like pencils, notebooks, paper and backpacks are needed. Donations can be dropped off at the Kroc Center at 1833 Broad Street from 8 am til 12 pm on July 28, and at Walmart at 1500 N. Liberty Street in Waynesboro on Saturday, July 29, from 9 am til 1 pm.
All school supplies collected will be distributed to local students in Richmond, Columbia, Burke and surrounding counties in the CSRA. Monetary donations can also be made at www.undraise.givesmart.com.
Meanwhile, Augusta Worship Center is hosting its fourth annual Backpack Blessings event this Saturday, July 22, at 10 am.
The event will be held at Augusta Worship Center at 3480 Mike Padgett Highway.
“We know children are suffering from a lack of supplies, and we want to help any way we can,” said Bishop Jay Johnson of Augusta Worship Center.
