Update: Man Shot and Killed at Home in Aiken County Identified

A deadly shooting investigation is underway this morning in Aiken County.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the 800 block of Old 96 Indian Trail in Batesburg around 1 am today.

Captain Eric Abdullah said deputies found a black male lying on the floor of the home with an apparent gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables identified the victim as 20-year-old Jatavious K. Harris.  His body will be sent to Newberry for an autopsy Tuesday.

Initial reports indicate the shots were fired from the roadway.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office is assisting with the investigation and will release the identity of the victim later.
