Austin talks about the most dangerous public official, the Augusta District Attorney.
Transcript:
Austin:[00:00:00] It is not an understatement to say he represents the most dangerous public official we’ve ever had elected, at least in my lifetime. And his continued service represents a threat to the public safety of every citizen in this area.
Who in the world are we talking about? Of course, our own district attorney in the Augusta Judicial circuit, Jared Williams. He has been easier on serious criminals and more willing to cut deals with criminal defense attorneys than anyone who has served in that office in the last 40 years. We’ve got to do better.
And it looks like Amber Brantley might be the individual who steps forward to say that we can do better. She’s currently serving as an assistant district attorney under Bobbi Kristine in Columbia County. She’s also an award winning prosecutor in both Lowndes County and for the Augusta solicitor’s office. So this this is an individual who comes to the table with a lot of professional credibility and an awful lot of goodwill within the legal community.
Amber represents seriously the most realistic challenge that we’ve seen come up against Jared Williams since he first won office a few years ago. Quite frankly, I didn’t think that there would be a minority candidate that could emerge that could actually take him on with a heavily minority votership in Richmond County that apparently seemed willing all too willing to elect based on qualifications other than getting the job done.
Amber Brantley is a competent district attorney. She is a very, very learned educator and prosecutor. And it just so happens she’s a minority female. I betcha when it comes to standing toe to toe on a debate line, Jared Williams is going to be hard pressed to beat this young lady. Let’s stay tuned, but most definitely welcome her into the political fray. Amber Brantley, we appreciate your participation and let’s hope that you get elected come November of next year. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC. [00:00:00][0.0]
