As if I needed another reason to NOT ride roller coasters.  I am terrified of them... mostly because of my fear of heights and lack of control! But then I see stories like this... A North Carolina roller coaster is shut down after someone notices a crack in a support pillar.

The roller coaster, Fury 325, is a popular coaster at North Carolina's Carowinds.  A visitor to the park shared photos on social media.  By Friday, there was video proof of the crack in a steel support pillar.

According to NPR, Carowinds released a statement saying their rides are inspected daily.  Despite photos being taken earlier in the week, the ride was not shut down for inspection until Friday, June 30.

The North Carolina roller coaster, Fury 325, is described by the park as the "tallest, fastest, longest giga coaster in North America." The coaster reaches a maximum height of 325 feet and reaches speeds up to 95 mph.
