The weather is certainly solidifying that it is summertime! As temperatures continue to rise the City of Augusta has found a way for everyone to beat the heat. They now have several Community Cooling Centers for everyone to use.
A cooling center is a place where you, your family, or whomever, can go to cool down during the hot weather. Cooling centers are air conditioned facilities such as libraries, community and senior centers, schools, and malls.
Augusta has allocated a number of Community centers as cooling centers.
For assistance and referrals to cooling centers, contact local 2-1-1.

June 26 is National Canoe Day, a day dedicated to the joy of canoeing. With summer finally, here, I have seen a lot more people getting out on the water and canoeing in Augusta.
Canoeing can be a great way to get some peace and relaxation in nature. It's also a form of outdoor exercise.
How to Celebrate National Canoe Day
Augusta has many bodies of water appropriate for canoeing. There are also a ton of businesses that offer group trips in canoes or even renting out your own canoe for a period of time.
Below is a list of places to canoe in Augusta. Most of these have both canoeing and kayaking, while some just specialize in kayaking. While canoeing and kayaking are not the same, I decided to mention those spots too, even though it's not National Kayak Day!

This gift shop is located at the heart of the Riverwalk. You can choose to rent a canoe or kayak.
