A man is in custody after intentionally striking vehicles at two different locations last night in Grovetown.

Grovetown Police were called to the intersection of Wrightsboro Road and Leven Street around 7 pm Monday.  That's where Shondarius Freemon said his vehicle was hit from behind at a high rate of speed by a man later identified as Tony-Alberto Mendez.

Freemon, whose grandmother was also in the car, said his vehicle was hit two more times by Mendez, but he was unable to move due to traffic.  Freemon said he grabbed his gun when he feared Mendez was going to hit their vehicle again and fired several rounds at the suspect's car.  Freemon said that's when he was able to get away and managed to flag down a Grovetown Officer that was approaching the intersection.

In the meantime, authorities say Mendez got out of his car and approached Freemon in an aggressive manner, but the officer detained Mendez and he was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he received from flying glass after shots were fired

.  He has since been charged with Hit and Run, Following Too Closely, Driving While Unlicensed, Reckless Driving, Aggressive Driving, and Driving Under the Influence.

Investigators say Mendez reportedly hit another person's vehicle near the intersection of Wrightsboro Road and Whiskey Road prior to the incident at Wrightsboro Road and Leven Street.
