Services Highlighted at Non-profit Fair in Aiken

The city of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is hosting a Non-profit fair Tuesday, June 13 at at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center, 841 Edgefield Ave NW.

The event will feature 24 local non-profit agencies that provide services to the community, including assistance with meals, legal issues, utilities, transportation and essential home repairs.  There will be representatives from each organization on hand to offer more information about their services.

Officials will also have representatives on hand to explain 2-1-1, Aiken's information and referral service for community resources.  Phone are manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to make finding help alot easier.    Aiken's local 2-1-1 agency usually fields more than 4,000 calls a year, according to city officials.  Statewide, than number tops more than 100,000.

"Anyone who wants to learn more about the vital services that our community has available to the general public should attend this event.  This will be a robust gathering of the most important non-profits under one roof," said Margaret Kopp of the Senior Commission.

The Non-profit fair hours Tuesday are from 9 am until noon.  The event is free and open to all ages.
