Sgt. Antonio Young Honored for Helping Stranded Motorist

Burke County Sheriff's Office

Burke County Sheriff Alfonso Williams is praising the actions of a deputy who went the extra mile recently to help a stranded motorist.

Sgt. Antonio Young was headed home on Sunday when he spotted a woman and her children stranded on the side of the road after their vehicle broke down.  Young stopped and tried to help, but said the vehicle required some repairs.

Young reportedly stayed with the family there for two hours, then called other deputies to help transport them to the Burke County Sheriff's Office, where they were met by other family members.

The woman sent a letter to the Sheriff's Office about how grateful she was to Young for the time he spent trying to help them.

"Sgt. Young went above and beyond and contacted the family at a later time to make sure they were ok and to check on the status of their vehicle," according to a Sheriff's Office press release.

Young is being congratulated on a job well done and thanked for going the extra mile!
