Thomas King Jr. Shoots Girlfriend, Then Kills Himself

A local funeral home director is dead, reportedly of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Richmond County authorities say 62-year-old Tommy King Jr. allegedly shot his girlfriend in the abdomen while the two were arguing in their home in the 2500 block of Henry Street Thursday night.

The woman, whose name has not been released, is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.  Her condition has not been given.

King was pronounced dead at the scene.

King operated Thomas L. King Funeral Home on Davis Road in Martinez with his mother, Nancy King.  His father, Tommy King Sr, was the coroner in Columbia County for 34 years until he died in 2006.
