Piedmont Augusta is set to open its third Prompt Care location in Columbia County.  The ribbon will be cut Wednesday, May 31, at the new Piedmont Prompt Care and Occupational Medicine facility in Appling at 1331 Appling Harlem Road.  It will be the first of its kind in the Piedmont system.

Piedmont established a footprint in Columbia County 40 years ago on the former University Health Care System campus on North Belair Road.  The first Prompt Care opened at that location, followed by a Prompt Care and Primary care combination in Grovetown.

Piedmont's newest location in Appling "is particularly exciting because of its potential to empower families, businesses and industry to take better care of their health, minutes from where they live and work. The goal of prompt care is convenient, accessible, high-quality care.  Occupational medicine will help keep employees well and help employers keep medical costs low," according to a news release.

Wednesday's ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm.  There will be comments from Columbia County Chamber president Russell Lahodny' Columbia County Commission chairman Doug Duncan; Piedmont Augusta Hub CEO Dr. Lily Henson; and Dr. Bo Sherwood, Medical Director of Piedmont's prompt care network.
