An Augusta woman received the maximum sentence this week for causing an accident in 2020 that left a 6-year-old boy dead.

Shalonna Marie Wadley was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years for more than a dozen charges, including Homicide by Vehicle, in connection with the death of LaBarron Wright.  The little boy was one of 9 people in the vehicle that crashed when Wadley lost control on Horseshoe Road in February, 2020.  The vehicle rolled several time and hit a tree, causing Wright to be ejected.  He died as a result of his injuries.

Wadley was also charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Lack of Insurance and Driving while License Suspended.

Wadley will have to serve at least five years of the sentence before being eligible for release.
