http://gty.im/553979523 Good Friday is a Christian holiday remembering the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary, two days before Easter Sunday.

Although some government and other offices will be closed on Good Friday, it's not a federal holiday.

The Municipal Building on Telfair Street will be closed Friday and will reopen Monday. All Augusta utilities offices will be closed, as well as all Richmond County Community Centers, the Augusta Aquatics Center, the Newman Tennis Center and county athletic offices.

Garbage collection and the Augusta Landfill will operate as scheduled Friday, as well as Augusta Transit.

Schools in the area are already closed this week, due to spring break.

The Columbia County Courthouse is closed Friday, but other offices will be open.

Most banks are open on Good Friday, and there will be mail delivery. The stock market, however, will be closed.
