Parents of students at Stevens Creek Elementary School in Columbia County were notified today that two teachers reportedly used a sound frequency tone to get students' attention in class.

"Educators at Stevens Creek are expected to maintain a level of professionalism that is beyond reproach, and the use of applications such as these are not condoned for use in our school," according to school Principal Grace Meyer.

The sound emitting video was played in two classrooms today.

Meyer said the health, well-being and safety of students and staff is their top priority and an investigation into the incident is underway.  "Amidst the ongoing investigation, we appreciate your patience as we work to address this issue as a school, to include providing further education for our staff on appropriate ways to maintain classroom composure."
