Photo Courtesy of Richmond County School SystemA press release from Richmond County School System announced a senior at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Song Ting Tang is a senior at Davidson, and is the only student in Richmond County to achieve this honor. This is the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Out of the students who took the PSAT in Fall 2021, less than one percent were named as a finalist.
Tang was up against more than 16,000 semifinalist. He had to submit an essay, letters of recommendation, SAT scores, transcripts, and documentation of school involvement and community service.
The National Merit Finalists are eligible for corporate and college-sponsored scholarships.
