Aiken County Deputy Fired After Firing Gun During Confrontation
An Aiken County deputy has lost his job, following an incident earlier this week during a traffic stop in Warrenville.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Christopher Williams was terminated Wednesday, one day after he allegedly fired his weapon during a confrontation with 29-year-old Brittany Norton during a traffic stop. Norton was not injured.
Williams was placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Today, Sheriff Michael Hunt announced that Williams was in violation of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Use of Force Policy and has been terminated.
Williams had been with the department since 2021. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is continuing its investigation of the incident.
