The VA Augusta Health Care System is hosting a hiring event Saturday, February 25, in hopes of filling vacant positions available for nurses, health technicians and nursing assistants.

The job fair will be held at the VA Augusta Health Care System Uptown Campus at 1 Freedom Way.  It will be in Room 3B125 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Positions are open in VA Augusta's Community Living Center (long-term care residence) and Spinal Cord Injury Unit.  Experienced nursing professionals and new nursing graduates are encouraged to apply.  On-site interviews will be done for qualified candidates.  Those applying are asked to bring several copies of an updated resume.

A news release from VA Augusta Health Care System says in the last six months, they've held three nurse hiring events.  In the first quarter of this year, VA Augusta added 35 nurses to its staff, compared to only 6 losses.   Local officials say they continue to be aggressive in hiring efforts to address the national nursing shortage impacting health systems everywhere.
