Grovetown Man Planning Sex With 14-year-old Now in Custody

A Grovetown man who had planned to meet a 14-year-old for sex wound up meeting an undercover police officer instead.  Grovetown Police say 22-year-old Christian Garland was taken into custody this morning on several charges.

Investigators say Garland thought he had been communicating with a female on a social media app.  Despite being told she was a juvenile, he continued to send sexually explicit messages to her.  Authorities say Garland also tried to arrange a time and place to have sex with her, once again being reminded she was a juvenile.

Grovetown investigators say Garland was taken into custody today without incident at the place he was scheduled to meet the girl and take her back to his house to have sex.

Garland has been charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and two counts of violation of the child exploitation and prevention act.
