An Aiken woman perished in a house fire overnight.  Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says firefighters responded to the home at 1338 Aldrich Street around 12:25 a.m.   They were told two members of the family were still inside.  The body of 64-year-old Sylva Spann was found in a bedroom of the home.  Her daughter, whose name has not been released, was also found in a bedroom.  She was critically injured and was taken to Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Spann's body will be sent to Newberry for an autopsy to determine the cause of her death.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
