The Augusta Sports Council will host the USA Cycling Masters and Para Road Championships and USSSA Military World Championships in Augusta later this year.

The events are expected to bring an estimated 3,100 participants from around the world, creating an over $5 million economic impact to the city.

USA Cycling, Masters and Para Road National Championships will be held August 23-27 with at least 600 athletes expected to compete on the tried and true courses of Fort Gordon and downtown Augusta.

The USSSA Military World Championships should bring in an estimated 2,500 athletes from around the world to compete in slow pitch softball at Diamond Lakes Park in South Augusta from September 26 through October 1.  Augusta hosted the event in 2016 and 2017, which had a nearly $7 million economic impact on the city.

Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson said, "When 2,500 athletes descend on a city, there can only be positive outcomes.  I'm excited to welcome the athletes and their families and for them to experience South Augusta and Diamond Lakes, one of our city's premier recreation sites."
