Harlem Power Outage Update (Updated at Midnight 12/25/22)

A summarized update from a Georgia Power Representative:
Though the demand on the transformer is great, and the process will continue to take time, the work is going well and we are hopeful power will be restored to all of Harlem in the next few hours. Power is coming on slowly but surely for our Harlem customers.

Earlier updates from 12/24

Many Harlem residents are having to do without power due to a main transformer that blew according to the city’s social media page.

Here are the latest updates from the City of Harlem as of 12:oopm:

Update on Columbia County Warming Center: If you are in need of a ride to the Patriots Park warming center, you may call 706-556-0807 for to schedule it thru the County Transit service. Thank you!

Update from Georgia Power: Power is expected to be restored by 10 pm. We believe the new equipment has just came into town. It will take a while for installation and then the turning on of the power may be a slow process in order to not cause power surges with all of the electrical items being on (plugged in, lights that were on when power went out, heaters, heat pumps, etc.). We appreciate everyone’s patience during this process.

Power is currently out over a large portion of the city. Residents should report service interruptions via their service provider’s outage phone number or website. Report any hazardous situations to 911.
It has also been reported that there are three water main breaks in town. We understand that the Water Utility has been contacted. Please proceed with caution if out driving as this has caused some icing on the roads. Areas that may be affected include Harlem Grovetown Road and Paschal Street.
