The brother of the late Henry "Wayne" Howard won a special election Tuesday to replace him in House District 129.  Howard died in October.  His brother, The Reverend Karlton Howard, won 68% of the vote yesterday in a four-way special Democratic primary in the district that covers parts of Augusta.  It was a special Democratic primary since no Republican or members of other parties qualified to run against Henry Howard in the spring election.

Of the over 34,000 registered voters who were eligible to vote in Richmond County, only 2,661 cast a ballot in the special election.  That made turnout just 7.8%

Local businessman Brad Owens finished the race in second place with 435 votes; Scott Cambers had 244; and Davis Green had 158 votes.
