Walgreens and CVS have announced they are limiting the amount of children's pain relief products that can be purchased in stores and online, due to medication shortages.
The flu, RSV and COVID-19 cases are on the rise throughout the country and officials say they want to ensure they have enough supplies to meet customers' needs.
CVS Pharmacy has put a two-product limit on purchases of children's pain relief products. Walgreens is limiting customers to six purchases of pain medication for children online, but there's no limit in stores.
Last month, the Federal Drug Administration announced there is an acute shortage of the antibiotic "Amoxicillin," often prescribed to treat bacterial respiratory infections in children.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said, "Respiratory viruses continue to spread at high levels nationwide, and even in areas where RSV may be decreasing, our hospital systems continue to be stretched with high numbers of patients with other respiratory illnesses."
